How do I find information about about a social policy?

Here is a research guide that will help you find the various components including:

  • An official government-authored website or report that provides demographic data on the extent of the problem as it exists today.
  • A federal or state statute. This is the actual policy you are focusing on in your brief.
  • The Legislative Record for this statute. This includes committee reports, hearing, and the record.
  • A policy analysis on the statute. This analysis must be from a peer-review or empirical resource.
  • A court decision (or pending case) regarding this statute. This can be local, state, or federal court decision. This court decision could reaffirm the legislation, or pose a significant challenge to the legislation.
  • A policy brief produced by a think tank that addresses the policy you are looking examining.
