How do I request an article not immediately available through Drake?

There are three ways to see if we have the full text of an article:

  1. Search the title of the article using Library Search. If it doesn't show up, click "Expand results beyond Drake Library on the left had side of the page.
  2. Use our Article Lookup by Citation
  3. From one of our Subject Databases, click the "Search for Full Text" button.

On the results screen, click "Sign In" in the yellow bar if it exists:

If we have the item, you'll see a link for each databases that has the full text. If there are no options, or the only option looks like it might be in Drake's physical collection, click on "Place Article Request":

This will take you over to our Interlibrary Loan software. You may be prompted to create an account. If so, please fill out all fields. Pickup location refers to where we would hold a physical item for you if you requested a book or video. Don't worry, we will email you a copy of the article.

When you submit this form, you should see the request form filled out. Check everything and then click "Submit Request."

Next, watch your email! We'll let you know when we're able to obtain the item from another library and pass it along to you.
