How do I request a physical item available at Drake Library or from another library?
You can request books and other physical materials at Drake or from another library through the Library Search on the library homepage.
To Make a Request:
- Use the library search to find the book you want to request and click on the title.
- Alternatively, you can use WorldCat to find the item you want and click the Request via Primo button. This will take you to the item's page in library search.
- Log in with your Brockport NetID and password if you have not done so already. If you are logged in, your name will be displayed in the upper right corner of the screen.
- Look at the How to Get It section to see the request options. There are different request options that will display based on who owns the item:
- If the item is owned by Drake, you'll see the 'Hold Request' link.
- If item is not owned by Drake, you'll see the 'Place Request' link. These items will take longer to arrive, as we need to borrow them from another library.
- Click the available request link and fill out the request form.
- Most fields will already be filled out, including your Brockport email address, but:
- Select pickup location if you want to pick up the item somewhere other than Drake Library. Options include Brockport Downtown or Home Address (for graduate students).
- Include any other additional information in the Comment field and click Send Request.
- Library staff will review and process your request.
- You'll receive an email at your Brockport email address when the item is available for pickup at the library's circulation desk.
